Mini Kozhukattai/Rice Dumplings

Today, marks the last day of the BM#14 Marathon & i am the last one to post, as usual :).. So for this day, i choose Mini Kozhukattai.. Apart from the fact they look super cute, they are easy to make, tastes good & is super healthy..This is generally done on Polaiyar ( Ganesha) Chaturthi. I think this is good snack option, a  break from the routine.. So, here it goes!

Ingredients
1. Rice Flour - 1 cup
2. Water - 2 cup
3. Salt - 3/4 tsp
4. Oil - 1/2 tsp

To Temper
1. Oil - 2 tsp
2. Mustard Seeds - 1tsp
3. Urad Dal - 2 tsp
4. Red Chilli - 2
5. Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
6. Hing - a pinch
7. Molagai Podi - 2 tsp (optional)

Preparation Time!!
1. In a pan, add water, salt & oil and bring it to boil. Once it starts to boil, add rice flour & mix well without lumps to form a dough. Hardly takes a minute!

2. Allow it to cool & once warm, grease your hand with oil and pinch small portion of the dough to form mini Kozhukattai. Place this in oil greased idli plates & steam for 10 minutes

3. After 10 minutes, switch the gas off & let it rest for 5 minutes closed. Then transfer them to a bowl

4. In a pan, add oil and when warm, add mustard seeds. Once it splutters, add Urad dal, red chillies ( broken into two), curry leaves & hing. Saute till urad dal turns light brown

5. To this add the the kozhukattai & mix well. Add Molagai Podi, mix well & lightly toss it for a minute and serve

Pointers
* You could skip Molagai Podi..replace it with Chutney podi or just have it plain
** Generally, 1-2 tbsp of coconut is added. I didn't have it, so skipped that!

I hopefully did justice to the Kid's Delight - Snacks and you guys at least found one or two dishes interesting..Here's a quick recap of the dishes i made during the last 6 days!
Day 6 : Baked Irani Samosa
Day 5 : Girmit
Day 4 : Baked Bread Rolls
Day 3 : Minestrone Soup with Cheese Balls
