This subzi is actually done with carrot & capsicum. I had used up all the carrots, so did the same with capsicum. It looks less colorful but not in taste :).
Capsicum Subzi |
Ingredients
1. Capsicum - 2 cubed
2. Mustard seeds - 1- 2 tsp
3. Red Chilli powder - 1 -2 tsp
4. Besan/ Chickpea flour - 6tbsp
5. Coriander-cumin powder - 1-2 tsp
6. Sugar - 1tsp
7. Salt - 2 tsp or to taste
8. Oil - 2tsp + 2-3 tbsp
9. Lemon
Preparation Time!!
1. In a wok, add oil and once warm, add mustard seeds
2. Once it splutters, add capsicum & cook for a few minutes
3. In a bowl, take the red chilli powder, coriander cumin powder, besan, sugar and salt. Add 1-2 tbsp of oil and make like thin batter
4. Once capsicum is partially (3/4th)cooked, pour this batter all over. Mix lightly and cook covered in low flame, for a few minutes
5. After the mixture melts and capsicum is cooked, remove off flame and squeeze lemon
Taste good with chapati but S felt, it would be great to have as a curry with rice! So, keep the options open ;)
* If adding carrot like the original recipe, after step 1 add carrots (slit long) and cook well, then add add capsicum(slit long too). Then follow the same from step 3!
I shall post the photos of that soon too, now that i have carrots again :)
Serving - 2 people
