Blackchickpea Sundal |
Ingredients
1. Black chick peas - 1 cup
2. Dhania/coriander seeds - 2 tsp
3. Urad dal - 2 -3 tsp
4. Red Chillies - 5-6
5. Peppercorns - 5-6
6. Coconut - 2 tbsp
7. Salt - to taste
8. Oil - 1 tsp
9. Hing - a pinch
To Temper
1. Oil - 1 tsp
2. Mustard seeds - 1-2 tsp
3. Urad dal - 2 tsp
4. Curry leaves - a sprig
5. Salt - to taste
Preparation Time!!
1. Soak the black chickpeas overnight in water
2. Pressure cook the chickpeas with enough water, for upto 2 whistles. Add a little salt while cooking
3. As the chick peas are getting cooked, add 1 tsp of oil in a pan
4. Once the pan is warm, add coriander, urad dal, pepper & red chillies along with hing and sauté till it turns brown
5. Cool it and dry grind to a fine powder.Keep aside
6. Now when steam cools off, drain water of the chickpeas
7. In the pan, add oil.When warm, add mustard seeds
8. Once it splutters, add urad dal & sauté till light brown
9. Then add chickpeas and sauté for say 6-8 minutes
10. Add the ground powder and mix well. Saute for 1-2 minutes
11. Add coconut & mix well and adjust salt accordingly!
This is a good evening snack option. I just have written in detail, so looks long but very easy!
Serving - 1 big bowl
Duration - 30 minutes max ( soak overnight, so skip this time!)
