Avalakki Bisibelle Bath

Avalakki Bisibelle Bath or Bisibelle bath made of flattened rice(Avalakki) is one of the best dishes my mom makes & is something which both Appa and me absolutely love.. Bisibelle bath as most of you are aware, is a Karnataka speciality dish which means Hot lentils rice..Bisi stands for Hot, Lentils stands for Belle and rice stands for Bath!

Beetroot Biryani

I am sure the name is such a turnoff..I mean, we all love Biryani don't we.. and to think of it as red color dish..with beets is almost unimaginable right!?! Well, at least i would have scoffed at the very thought of it :).. I changed my opinion & fell in love with it when i had this for the first time in my in laws place!

Peanut Sesame Rice

This dish is an easy, flavorful variety rice. Ideal for days when you don't want to whip up anything elaborate or need a break from the usual routine. S loves peanuts so this dish is something, he doesn't mind for his lunch.. So both of us are happy, me bcoz i get more time for my beauty sleep ;)

Capsicum Masala Rice

The best part of variety rice it is over in a jiffy. For me, i get to sleep an extra 10 minutes, coz i know this is going to be done soon & i am not going to get late packing. The reason why i like this variety rice is, bcoz of the color! I love bell pepper , they make the dish so colorful..I am a very fussy & a choosy eater, you must have guessed! so colorful platter def makes a dish more appetizing and if veggies go in, during the process, what harm right :P. Secondly, there is hardly any oil in this preparation!!

Learnt this recipe from Sanjay Thumma, The vahrevah chef. In fact, S told me about this, he used to do this during his bachelor days and told me to try this. Sanjay is a good chef no doubt, but i would avoid his show mainly bcoz he talks soo much!!Hmmm..i am doing the same now i guess ;), so directly to the recipe. ( Pls see i don't regret seeing the show now, thanks to this recipe :P)

I had this packet for some time now & was wondering what to make, when i remembered i could make Pulao. My MIL prepares this for my nephew as he likes this a lot & so i recreated the same..its definitely a must try!

Bisibelle Bhaath

Bisibelle Bhaath is a delicious Karnataka dish. The full name is Bisi (hot) belle (lentils) Huli (tamarind) anna(rice) or bhaath(rice) is my favorite! It tastes good when hot, as the name indicates and is very filling & nutrious too, thanks to all the veggies we add in it preparation :)

Menthya Bhaath

Had been to the Indian store for shopping & there i saw a huge pack of Methi/Fenugreek leaves. I have  heard a lot about its goodness ( who else from, but amma :)) and i thought i should pick this up. I love methi chappati's so amma would do this. But S doesn't like methi much, so we cook less of this... Today was his work-lunch day, so thought will use this & make this for Menthya bhaath :)..Generally, if i had to cook for only myself, i would be happy with Maggi ;)...thanks to blogging i am cooking & clicking  :D
